Scent Changes for 2024 - Retirements

Scent Changes for 2024 - Retirements

“Parting is such sweet sorrow,” as William Shakespeare so eloquently stated can be applied to some of this year's outgoing scents. Some have served us well and indeed will be missed while others will evoke cheers from our candle makers as they dreaded the days we poured them.

This year's candle scents being sent to pasture are (drum roll):

  1. Cardamom and Milk: While a nice scent, it's time to move on to other scents. Fear not someday it may return as it was a popular seller seasonally.
  2. Cashmere Dream: We love the scent and so did you but we found a better version. For 2024 we dropped the Dream and just went with Cashmere with a new and improved scent. You will love it.
  3. Cucumber Melon: First released in 1998, this scent became one of the most beloved fragrances in Bath & Body Works' portfolio. We brought it back as a way to honor the original designer of the fragrance after meeting her in 2022. Now that BBW has relaunched it, it's time to move on.
  4. Decadence: Its rich chocolaty undertones and spicy base smell great in the factory but its complex scent never hit the charts as a great seller. Bye-bye.
  5. Fruity Pinot Grigio: Fruity and fun but our makers hated making it. As a homage to them, we say see ya next time.
  6. Orange and Cloves: A great seasonal scent when looking for something other than Pumpkin in the fall. It may come back seasonally when we once again tire of pumpkin in everything.
  7. Smokey Tonka Bean: Complex and masculine, this grew to be a great seller despite no one knowing what the heck a tonka bean was. We think you will love the replacement for it so it farewell to the tonka bean.
  8. Vintage Wood: Fantastic scent, color was meh and the name was one of the worst mistakes of my personal candle career. What does wood smell like anyway let alone vintage wood? Have no fear an improved version with a new lighter color and better name will be coming out in 2024.
  9. Wildflowers: I was told that this was a huge mistake as it replaced the very popular European Lilac. Floral people are a fickle bunch and just for them we are plowing under the wildflowers and replanting European Lilacs for 2024.

Also in 2024 and in response to our younger employees who kept asking what a Mai Tai was, we are changing the name of Mango Mai Tai. The scent is a huge seller when experienced in person so we are keeping it but changing the name to better describe its scent to those under 30.

Watch for the announcement of the new scents for 2024, coming soon!
